What is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific, evidence-based approach to understanding behavior and teaching meaningful skills. ABA focuses on identifying how learning occurs and using proven strategies to increase skills that improve daily functioning while reducing behaviors that may interfere with learning, communication, safety, or independence.
ABA uses behavioral principles and positive reinforcement to help children diagnosed with autism develop new skills and strengthen as well as increase existing skills. ABA therapy is individualized to meet the unique needs of each child and may target a variety of developmental areas, including communication, social interaction, adaptive living skills, play skills, and behavior management.
At Behaviors Are Us ABA Services, PLLC, treatment decisions are guided by objective data, ongoing assessment, and collaboration with families to ensure services remain effective and socially significant for all clients and caregivers we serve.
Who We Serve
We provide ABA services for children ages 18 to 13 years of age who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other developmental and behavioral support needs when ABA services are clinically appropriate and medically necessary. Service eligibility is determined based on clinical appropriateness, medical necessity criteria, and applicable funding source requirements.
We understand that every child learns differently, which is why our treatment plans are individualized to reflect each child's strengths, challenges, interests, and goals. Our services are designed to support not only the child but also the parents and caregivers who play an essential role in helping skills generalize across environments.
Our Service Delivery Model
We provide services primarily within the child's natural environment, including the home and community settings. By providing therapy where children live, learn, and interact most frequently, we can help ensure that newly learned skills are meaningful, functional, and more likely to generalize into everyday life.
Natural environment services allow children to practice communication, social interaction, daily living skills, and behavior management strategies in real-world situations where they are most relevant.
Our family-centered & assent based approach emphasizes compassionate care, collaboration, consistency, and ongoing support throughout the therapeutic process.
The assessment process serves as the foundation for effective treatment planning and individualized care.
Our Board Certified Behavior Analyst® (BCBA®) conducts a comprehensive evaluation to identify each child's strengths, areas of need, current skill levels, and behavioral challenges. Information is gathered through indirect assessment such as caregiver interviews, record reviews, and standardized assessment tools when appropriate and through direct observation.

Following the assessment, recommendations are developed and an individualized treatment plan is created in collaboration with our families to address identified areas of need and any behavioral challenges in need of reduction.

VB-MAPP
Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP)
The VB-MAPP is an assessment tool used to evaluate a child's language, communication, social, and learning skills. It looks at developmental milestones and helps identify skills a child has already developed as well as areas where additional support may be beneficial.
In simple terms: It helps us understand how a child communicates and learns and where we should focus treatment.
ABLLS-R
Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills – Revised (ABLLS-R)
The ABLLS-R is a comprehensive assessment and curriculum-based tool that looks at a broad range of language, learning, social, self-help, and functional skills. It helps identify strengths and skill deficits and can be used to guide individualized treatment goals.
In simple terms: It helps us identify what skills a child has, what skills they are ready to learn next, and how to build those skills step-by-step.
RAISD
Revised Assessment of Independent Skills (RAISD)
The RAISD focuses on a child's ability to perform functional and independent living skills. It can help identify areas where a child may need additional support with everyday activities and independence.
In simple terms: It helps us understand how independently a child can manage everyday tasks and where additional teaching and support may be helpful.

BSR-4
Behavioral Skills Rating – 4 (BSR-4)
The BSR-4 is used to help assess behavioral and adaptive functioning across areas that may affect a child's ability to participate successfully in daily activities. Information from rating scales such as this can contribute to understanding a child's strengths, needs, and areas requiring intervention.
In simple terms: It provides additional information about a child's behaviors and functional skills across everyday situations.
BCBA® Supervision and Clinical Oversight
Quality clinical oversight is a critical component of effective ABA services.
At Behaviors Are Us ABA Services, PLLC, all treatment programs are developed and overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst® (BCBA®). Ongoing supervision helps ensure that services remain individualized, effective, and aligned with each child's treatment goals.
BCBA® responsibilities include:

Parent and Caregiver Training
Families play one of the most important roles in a child's success.
Parent and caregiver training is designed to provide practical strategies that help families support skill development and behavior change outside of therapy sessions. By working together, we can promote consistency and increase opportunities for learning throughout daily routines that generalize to all settings and maintain over time.

Step 1: Initial Contact

Step 2: Insurance Verification
We will review available funding sources and verify benefits when applicable.
Step 3: Comprehensive Assessment
A BCBA® will conduct an assessment to identify strengths, needs, and treatment priorities.
Step 4: Individualized Treatment Planning
An individualized treatment plan is developed based on assessment findings and collaboration with the family.
Step 5: Authorization and Service Initiation
When required, treatment recommendations are submitted for authorization. Once approved, services begin according to the individualized treatment plan.
